Role overview

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Technology Intern to join us for a 12-month placement as part of their university placement year. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain real-world experience in IT support and systems administration within a training solutions company. The successful candidate will gain invaluable hands-on experience in IT support and systems administration, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our internal technology infrastructure. Responsibilities will include setting up and managing hardware, assisting users with day-to-day IT queries, onboarding new users and equipment, and overseeing software licenses and inventory. Beyond the technical tasks, this internship offers opportunities for professional growth and learning. You will be guided by experienced mentors, provided with training to refine your technical skills, and encouraged to take ownership of impactful projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to users, addressing hardware, software, and basic network issues both remotely and on-site.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system-related problems, encompassing desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals such as printers.
  • Collaborate with senior IT administrators to address escalated technical challenges and ensure system reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of technical support activities, resolutions, and inventory using ticketing and documentation systems.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and management of new hardware and software, including user onboarding and training.
  • Monitor IT assets and equipment inventory, ensuring proper allocation and operational efficiency. Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT documentation, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and participate in training sessions to enhance technical expertise.
  • Uphold high standards of data security, compliance, and user privacy, while delivering exceptional customer service and communication.
  • Support the IT team with project-based work as and when it arises, gaining hands-on experience with real-world systems, troubleshooting, and implementation tasks.

Qualifications and experience

  • Currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows and/or macOS), and software applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to providing quality support.
